What’s a Lead Magnet, and Why Do You Need One?

lead magnet is an incentive offered to potential buyers in exchange for their email address or other contact information.

Lead magnets usually offer a piece of digital, downloadable content, such as a free PDF checklist, report, eBook, whitepaper, video, etc.

  • An e-book
  • Buyer guide
  • Free webinar
  • Email course
  • Cheat sheet
  1. Offer something for free. Think of something to give as a gift and package it in a clever way. A report. Avoid fads. Debunk something many people take for granted. Focus on things your customers are curious about or afraid of. Not too much. Hold out on how to do the thing.
  2. Build a landing page to advertise free offer / lead magnet.

Elements of your lead magnet: Header: title of free report should work   Key points:

  • Use curiosity, fear, pain and gain
  • Capture minimal info
  • Then use funnel with auto drip

Your lead magnet is the gateway to presenting your potential client one of two offers.  The first offer will be your “tripwire” offer. This is a watered down or basic version of the end service or product you intend to sell.
